Celebrating major milestones

I know how I'm celebrating my next big birthday milestone. And it's not a party where everyone comes dressed as pimps and prostitutes or pieces of fruit.

HELI-SKIING

It's not new, it's not for everyone, it's not pole dancing. But yippee yah yay, here's someone who's done it and this is how it's done. I'm not wishing my life away by any means. Just admiring the view and forever realising how short life is and how much we need to treasure the impermenable, the transitional, the meltable. It's called Snow, folks. And when you go fast, you get excited. Nathan Krieger shows us the way in Alaska:

Thigh burn after 60 minutes of non-stop ski-o'clock

Hope you went to the bathroom...

        WHEN, WHERE, WHO AND HOW?
Went in April with uni mates and stayed at the converted old salmon cannery, The Orca
                  Adventure Lodge.
                  see:    http://www.alaskaheliski.com/.

       WHY ALASKA?
Big hills, steep terrain and sooooo much powder.

       BEST FEATURES?

Outstanding conditions, the best I've ever skied. Huge runs, awesome pow, helicopters.

                WORST THING?

No amount of fitness training can truly prepare you for it.

               WOULD YOU GO THERE AGAIN?

              Absolutely. It's Mecca.

    WHERE ELSE HAVE YOU SKIIED?
              Canada, USA, Japan and Australia.
